Corporate Membership of the Irish Payroll Association

The aims of the Irish Payroll Association are to train, develop and support the Payroll Profession. The smooth operation of the payroll function is critically important in every business, something which is not fully appreciated in many companies.

The Payroll function has developed in recent years beyond all recognition. Working in Payroll today means being proficient in the use of information technology, accounting and HR issues. In addition, payroll staff are required to be up to date with Taxation, Social Welfare and Employment Law issues, all of which are constantly changing, yet support for the payroll function has not always been readily available. When an employer enrols as a corporate member, payroll managers and staff can turn to IPASS when they need assistance with payroll specific problems.

In addition to providing training and support for Payroll staff, our aim is to help the payroll function to develop in order to achieve the recognition it deserves. IPASS provides a range of services which include one day and half day training course, seminars, an annual payroll conference, and representation to Government Departments and employers. To promote the standards required to work in payroll, IPASS introduced a number of nationally recognised payroll qualifications including the Certified Payroll Technician and the Diploma in Payroll Management. Further details of these courses are available from the IPASS office.

Benefits of IPASS Corporate Membership.

1. Helpline
A helpline service is available to offer assistance to payroll and HR professionals and staff with problems which they encounter on a daily basis. The benefit of this service alone will more than justify the decision to become a corporate member.

2. Newsletter
Members will receive our electronic newsletter (at least 8 issues per year). The frequency of the newsletter will depend on developments as they affect payroll personnel and will keep members informed of the most important developments as they occur, i.e. changes in legislation and practice, tax cases and developments in employment law which are of particular relevance to payroll personnel.

3. Continuing Professional Development
New legislation, new practices and new developments in technology are all happening at an ever increasing pace. Being a subscriber to IPASS will greatly assist you in improving your skills and developing your expertise, thereby improving your career prospects.

4. Members Discount
Members are entitled to discounts on all courses (other than the technician or diploma courses), seminars and other services and products offered by IPASS.

5. Contacts and Networking
Being a member of IPASS will provide opportunities to meet other payroll professionals and to develop a network of contacts in the payroll environment, something which rarely happens at present.

6. Representation to Government
One of the principal benefits of being a member of IPASS is that there is now a professional body, which represents payroll personnel's interests at the highest level. To date, we have had detailed discussions with a number of Government Departments on issues which affect the payroll function
