What does the course cover?
The course will include a detailed overview of the new legislation and how it operates. It will cover the obligations of customers and suppliers in relation to Irish VAT and when foreign VAT is correctly chargeable. The course will include a comprehensive range of exercises dealing with international transactions and their VAT implications. The course will specifically deal with the following issues:
- When is VAT chargeable in respect of services received from abroad?
- When is foreign VAT correctly chargeable?
- When is Irish VAT chargeable?
- When does the Irish customer have to self account for Irish VAT?
- When does the foreign supplier have to register for and charge Irish VAT?
- What are the customer’s obligations when the supplier does not apply VAT correctly?
- How to determine the correct rate of VAT?
- When is the customer not obliged to self account for Irish VAT, where no VAT is charged by the supplier?
- When is the supplier obliged to account for Irish VAT on services from abroad?
- The rules in relation to self accounting for VAT on construction services explained
- How do you reclaim foreign VAT?
Who will present this course?
The course is presented by a professionally qualified VAT consultant and former Revenue auditor, who will explain in detail, how VAT should be accounted for on international transactions. Questions are welcomed on all aspects of VAT legislation and a comprehensive manual will be supplied to each delegate, which will act as a valuable reference document.
